Xcelom Participates in Key Thalassemia Conference in Bangkok, Thailand

Through this event, Xcelom strengthened regional engagement and showcased the potential of long-read sequencing in supporting thalassemia screening and diagnosis.
Xcelom was pleased to partner with DKSH Technology Thailand and PacBio to participate in the national conference “Thalassemia-Free Generations Through Advanced Laboratory Technologies”, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from July 22–24, 2026.
The conference brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, and laboratory experts to share insights into the current landscape, recent developments, clinical considerations, and ongoing challenges in thalassemia management across Thailand and neighboring regions, including China and India. The event provided an important platform for professional exchange and offered Xcelom a valuable opportunity to better understand regional needs, engage with experts on-site, and explore how advanced laboratory technologies can contribute to improved thalassemia care.
On the final day of the conference, Dr. Kenneth Kam delivered a presentation on our long-read sequencing-based technology, CATSA, and its clinical value, supported by findings from multiple studies. The presentation highlighted how long-read sequencing (CATSA) can enhance carrier screening and diagnosis through a one-step assay, and provide deeper insights into the geographic distribution and genotype–phenotype correlations of thalassemia, particularly in China.
